Western Rider Program - In the Western Rider Program you will learn safe horsemanship skills based on a national standard. Our lessons provide a structured, systematic process that will build on both your knowledge and riding skills. Whether your interest is recreational or competitive, our approach to learning will help to guide you towards your goals. The Rider Program consists of four levels, each building on the foundation of the previous one, from beginner to an advanced rider. This allows you to progress gradually so that you can master each requirement before moving on to another.

You can find detailed information about the Western Rider Program at the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation website.

You will enjoy our safe and relaxed environment. We offer private lessons to non boarding riders with lesson horses who are proven to be safe and quiet. To individuals who choose to board with Equine Excellence we have a large selection of lesson programs including both English and Western lessons. Equine Excellence has been in operation for over 18 years, and we have a long-standing foundation in the equestrian business and a great reputation. We invite you to visit our facilities, observe a lesson, and speak to the students and coaches. Click on the image below to view the achievements of our students.

Coaching - Our coaches are all certified instructors and upgrade their technical skills annually. Instructors are familiar with each student's individual abilities and current progress so you can ride with trust, confidence, and a positive attitude. Find out more at our Coaches & Trainers page.

Competition - Our success rate speaks for itself. Our students have been successful in all levels of competition in the Reining discipline from Green classes to Non-Pro and Open. We work with our students not only at home, but at the show grounds coaching them through each step. We work hard at taking the stress out of showing so that our students can focus better and be more successful in the show pen.

If you are interested in showing in the Reining discipline give us a call. We would love to sit down and discuss our competition program and how we can meet your needs.

Lesson Horses - We have several school horses that are experienced and trained specifically for working in a lesson environment. They are calm, easy-going and even-tempered and work well with both children and adults. They know how to work with beginning and advanced riders.

Our lesson horses are saddled and ready to ride for each lesson to ensure our students get the most of their lesson time. We require one months notice given by the 15th of the month for any students on the monthly rate wishing to stop taking lessons. We do allow students to do a "make-up" lesson for any lessons cancelled within 12 hours of lesson time. In order for students to make up missed lessons, they must be taking regular lessons. We do not offer credit for lessons missed.

Safety - We have an excellent safety record. Our lesson areas are controlled and supervised and students are taught how to ride safely alone or with other riders in the arena. We always recommend you wear an approved helmet and required clothing when riding. Find more information on safety at Equine Canada.
