Samantha Lacey BSc (Hons) BHSII Sam is a classically trained rider who takes a systematic, holistic and tailored approach to the training of horse and rider throughout all disciplines. She trained in Britain, through the British Horse Society Instructor Training System, and achieved Intermediate Instructor status (BHSII) in 2007. Since moving to Canada permanently, she has also been granted Level 2 Coaching status through Equine Canada. Sam has gained a great deal of experience through working in a variety of equestrian occupations throughout her career to date, including working as; a polo groom for a professional 4 goaler; a yearling preparation groom for a renowned thoroughbred racing breeding facility; a show groom for a top trainer of Welsh Cob Stallions; head girl at a breaking and training facility and Chief Instructor for two large commercial riding schools and events centres. Sam is currently involved with the teaching and training of Avon Pony Club members in addition to working with her private clients. Sam is passionate about inspiring others entering into equestrian sports. She teaches riders of all ages and ability, helping them conquer their fears and achieve their dreams - whether that be a red ribbon or enjoying a carefree ride. Her approach is to encourage and support horses and riders to reach their optimum performance whilst keeping riding fun and having empathy with novice and/or nervous riders. Sam uses a variety of teaching methods and training tools, dependant on the horse and rider. Both horse and rider are assessed in their first consultation and a structured work program is developed identifying the partnership's strengths and areas requiring improvement.
